Qwetu Student Residences and the Hostel Prices

As shared above, Qwetu has eight residences in Nairobi as follows:

  • Aberdare Height I
  • Aberdare Height II
  • Jogoo Road
  • Ruaraka
  • Parklands
  • Wilson View
  • Hurlingham
  • Karen

Let’s discuss the eight next:

1. Qwetu Aberdare Heights I

The Qwetu Aberdare Heights I residence is only 50 meters from the United States International University (USIU) main campus and the Pan African University. So, most residence students come from these two universities.

Qwetu Aberdare Heights I offers four types of rooms as follows:

a) Twin Room (From Ksh 17,500 per month)

Qwetu twin rooms are characterized by two single beds, a private wardrobe, a shared washroom, a shared kitchen with cabinets, an induction cooker, a fridge, a microwave, a sink, and a kettle.

Each room has a study desk and chair, a large window, and a hot shower.

b) Cluster Room (from Ksh 24,000 per month)

A Qwetu cluster room features a single bed, a wardrobe, and a private washroom with a hot shower. Inside is a furnished shared kitchen with a microwave, kettle, induction cooker, fridge, and sink.

Moreover, you can relax on a cushy sofa while watching a flat-screen TV and have access to a study desk and chair, a large window, and lockable cabinets.

c) Studio Room (From Ksh 27,500 per month)

A Qwetu studio room promises more comfort than a cluster room. You’ll get a single bed, a wardrobe, and a private washroom with a hot shower like in a cluster room.

The kitchen is, however, not shared, unlike a cluster room, and it is supplied with an induction cooker, a kettle, a microwave, a fridge, a sink, and cabinets.

You also get a cushy sofa, study desk, study chair, and a large window.

d) Premium Room (From Ksh 32,500)

The premium room is the most luxurious room anywhere within Qwetu’s residence. It’s Qwetu’s presidential suite that promises several comforts and amenities.

You’ll find a single big bed, a spacious wardrobe, and a private washroom with a hot shower. A furnished kitchen features a microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, sink, induction cooker, and cabinets.

And for your VIP experience, you can lounge on the sofa while watching a flat-screen TV. Other provisions in the premium room include an iron box, a large window, a study desk, and a study chair.

2. Qwetu Aberdare Heights II

The Qwetu Aberdare Heights II residence is only 40 meters from USIU main campus and the Pan African University. Unlike the Aberdare Heights I, the Aberdare Heights II offers five types of rooms as follows:

a) Double Room (From Ksh 15,000)

A double bed, a wardrobe, and a shared washroom with access to a hot shower characterize the double room. Inside is a sofa by the bedside for lounging and a study chair and desk for private studies.

There’s also a shared kitchen with a kettle, microwave, fridge, induction cooker, sink, and cabinets, plus there’s a large window to let air and sun in.

b) Other Rooms

The other rooms are similar to what you get in Aberdare Heights I, cost the same, and offer the same provisions. They are as follows:

  • Twin rooms (from Ksh 17,500 per month)
  • Cluster rooms (from Ksh 24,000)
  • Studio rooms (from Ksh 27,500)
  • Premium rooms (from Ksh 32,500)

3. Qwetu Hostels Prices Jogoo Road

The Jogoo Road residence is Qwetu’s pioneer residence. That’s where the student accommodation journey began, and if you want to experience the original vibe, this is the residence to join.

Qwetu Jogoo Road is only a 20-minute drive from Nairobi CBD or the University of Nairobi (UoN) and within access from Daystar University, Technical University (TUK), and BOMA.

The residence offers three types of rooms as follows:

a) Double Room (From Ksh 14,000)

The double room at Qwetu Jogoo Road has the same provisions as what you get in a double room at Qwetu Aberdare Heights II.

b) Single Room (From Ksh 25,000)

The single room features a single bed, a wardrobe, and a private washroom with a hot washer. The room has a kitchen area with a microwave, fridge, sink, induction cooker, kettle, sink, and cabinets. Moreover, you’ll get a sofa, study desk, study chair, and a large window.

c) Superior Room (From Ksh 27,500)

The superior room is the most luxurious room at Qwetu Jogoo Road. You’ll get a spacious single bed, a wardrobe, and a private washroom with a hot washer. The kitchen is well furnished with a microwave, kettle, toaster, induction cooker, fridge, sink, and cabinets.

Moreover, there’s a study area with a desk and chair, a cushy sofa on the bedside for hanging, an iron box, and a large window.

4. Qwetu Ruaraka Residence

Qwetu Ruaraka was established after the Jogoo Road residence. So, the two residences have similar provisions (in terms of room types) and even charge the same as follows:

  • Double rooms (From Ksh 14,000 per month)
  • Single rooms (From Ksh 25,000 per month)
  • Superior rooms (From Ksh 27,500 per month)

So, refer to Qwetu Jogoo Road (shared above) for the amenities in each of the four rooms.

Qwetu Ruaraka is a 5-minute drive to KCA University and a walking distance from the TRM Mall, Garden City Mall, and all Soaps.

5. Qwetu Hostels Prices Parklands

Qwetu Parklands is home to students from the University of Nairobi, Graffins College, Kenya Methodist, Mount Kenya University, and Kenya Institute of Management, among others around the CBD.

It’ll only take 10 minutes by bus from the CBD to the residence. The residence offers three room types as follows:

  • Twin rooms (From Ksh 17,500)
  • Cluster rooms (From Ksh 27,500)
  • Premium rooms (From Ksh 31,500)

Refer to the above rooms’ provisions under Qwetu Aberdare Heights I. The provisions are the same.

6. Qwetu Hostels Prices Wilson View

Qwetu Wilson View is only a 10-minute drive from the CBD and Daystar University and is closer to the Wilson Airport, T-Mall, Galleria Mall, and Java Mbagathi way.

That makes it convenient for students from Strathmore University, Riara University, and BOMA, among many other colleges in Nairobi. Currently, Wilson View offers four rooms types as the Aberdare Heights, though with different pricing as follows:

  • Twin rooms (From Ksh 18,000)
  • Cluster rooms (From Ksh 26,000)
  • Studio rooms (From Ksh 28,500)
  • Premium rooms (From Ksh 32,500)

7. Qwetu Hurlingham Residence

The Qwetu Hurlingham residence is only a 10-minute drive from the CBD and Strathmore University.  But still, it’s home to students from BOMA, CUEA, Riara, and Daystar University, among many others.

The 700 resident hostels offer similar room types as Qwetu Wilson View and with the same pricing as follows:

  • Twin rooms (From Ksh 18,000)
  • Cluster rooms (From Ksh 26,000)
  • Studio rooms (From Ksh 28,500)
  • Premium rooms (From Ksh 32,500)

8. Qwetu Karen Residence

Qwetu Karen is another technology-driven student-styled student residence that’s only a 2-minute walk from CUEA. The 600-plus capacity residence is ideal for students from the Catholic University and Kenya School of Law, JKUAT, Karen, Africa International University, Africa Nazarene, and Cooperative University, among others.

The Karen residence offers the same room types and provisions as Qwetu Hurlingham.

Qwetu Hostels Prices Per Semester

Qwetu doesn’t charge for the hostels per semester. Instead, they charge per month where a double room goes for Ksh 14,000, a town room for Ksh 17,500 – Ksh 18,000, and a cluster room for Ksh 22,500 – Ksh 26,000, depending on location.

So, you may have to triple the monthly charge for a semester.
