Why I Cancelled My Education Policy — and Chose a Trust Fund + Whole Life Cover Instead

My decision cost me Ksh 70,000.

I took an education policy with the aim of saving for my son’s education.

The numbers looked good on paper:

A guaranteed payout of Ksh 838,841 plus an expected bonus of Ksh 97,894

Totaling Ksh 936,735.

But something kept bothering me.

When I compared those returns with a simple Money Market Fund or a Cash Management Trust Fund, the gap was glaring.

The difference was too significant to ignore.

It didn’t sit well with me.

I also knew that if I cancelled the policy after just 10 months of contributions, I’d lose Ksh 70,000.

Still, I bit the bullet.

Here’s the strategy I executed:

Instead of a Money Market Fund, I chose a Trust Fund—specifically, the Milele Trust Fund by ICEA.

This gives me peace of mind.

I can contribute any amount I want without any restrictions.

If I’m not around, my children will still access the money strictly for school fees and upkeep.

I’ve given clear instructions on how it should be distributed.

Note: If you pass on today, your family cannot access your bank accounts or investments under your name.

They’ll have to go through succession, which can take years.

Why I Cancelled My Education Policy and Chose a Trust Fund + Whole Life Cover Instead

Another reason I was confident to cancel my education plan is that I already have a Whole Life Insurance policy.

This is the ultimate protection for any parent.

If anything happens to me, my children’s lifestyle and education are secured.

Finally, I trust my own discipline.

My Education Plan = Whole Life Cover + Cash Management Trust Fund

I’ve structured my finances using the 7 Pillars I teach in The Wealth Mastery Protocol Masterclass

I have a solid emergency fund, strong medical insurance, and my Whole Life Insurance covers me against critical illness and disability.

Now, let me throw this back to you.

I know you worry—what if something goes wrong?

What if you won’t have saved enough when the time comes?

Here’s the truth:

You must review your current education policy plan.

Ask yourself: is it really optimized to secure your child’s future?

If not, you have a tough decision to make.

I made mine.

It cost me a short-term loss, but the long-term peace of mind was worth it.

Now the ball is in your court.

But you are not alone.

I can help you review and restructure a practical and optimal education plan.
