To pay for goods and services and transfer money from one’s MPESA wallet to a StanChart Bank account, use Paybill number 329329. However, for StanChart credit card payments, use the Paybill number 329110.  

So, the Paybill number choice depends on the transaction type you want to do, and I’ll discuss how to pay with both Paybill numbers in a few. Moreover, I’ll highlight the various charges you can expect to incur, among other important information.

Option 1 – Paybill Number 329329

Consider using the Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Paybill number 329329 when doing any of the following:

  • Paying for bills (electricity, water, Pay-Tv, among others) using MPESA into a StanChart Bank account
  • Buying goods using MPESA into a StanChart Bank account
  • Transferring money from your MPESA account into your StanChart Bank account or that of another person

Option 2 – Paybill Number 329110

Consider using the Standard Chartered credit card Paybill number when loading money into your StanChart Bank account using MPESA.

How Do You Transfer Money from MPESA to Standard Chartered Bank Using Paybill Number?

Remember, you need the Paybill number 329329 to transfer money from MPESA into a StanChart Bank account. Overall, here’s how to move money from MPESA to bank account:

  • Go to MPESA on your mobile phone and then ‘Lipa Na MPESA.’
  • Choose ‘Paybill’ and then ‘Business Number.’
  • Enter the Business Number 329329 and press OK.
  • Input the recipient’s 13-digit StanChart Bank account number and press OK
  • Enter the amount to send and press OK
  • Enter your MPESA PIN and press OK

Ideally, you incur the exact MPESA Paybill transaction charges as any other when transferring money from MPESA to StanChart Bank. As of the time of writing this post, here are the Stanchart Paybill charges:

While you need Paybill number 329329 to deposit money from MPESA to StanChart Bank and pay bills, you need Paybill number 329110 to load funds into your StanChart Credit card.

  • Go to MPESA on your mobile phone and then ‘Lipa Na MPESA.’
  • Choose ‘Paybill’ and then ‘Business Number.’
  • Enter the Business Number 329110 and press OK.
  • Input the recipient’s StanChart credit card number as the account number and press OK.
  • Enter the amount and press OK.
  • Enter your MPESA PIN and press OK

How Do You Withdraw from Standard Chartered Bank to MPESA?

Now, not only does Stanchart Bank allow you to transfer money from MPESA, but you can also do the opposite (withdraw from Stanchart Bank to MPESA). However, unlike the first case, you don’t need the Paybill number here.

Here’s how to withdraw from Standard Chartered Bank to MPESA:

Option 1 – Using the Standard Chartered Mobile App

Follow these steps to withdraw money from Stanchart Bank to MPESA using the Standard Chartered mobile app:

  • Log into the Stanchart Bank mobile app
  • Go to ‘Payments’ and choose ‘One-Time Bill Payments’
  • Select ‘Mobile Money’ and then ‘MPESA’
  • Enter the recipient’s MPESA number
  • Select the Stanchart Bank account to transfer from
  • Enter the amount to transfer and its description
  • Tap on ‘Continue’ and confirm the details
  • Tap on ‘Continue’ one more time and input the OTP you receive via SMD
  • Click ‘Confirm’ to complete the fund withdrawal

About the Stanchart Bank Mobile App

Overall, there’s a lot you can do with the Stanchart Bank mobile app, making it an integral part of Standard Chartered mobile banking. According to Standard Chartered Bank Kenya, there are over 68 functions on the app, and here are just some of the things you can do with it:

  • Open a Stanchart Bank account without visiting a Standard Chartered Bank brand in person
  • Access essential bank account details on the go, such as savings, loans, credit cards, and term deposits
  • Invest in mutual funds and government bonds, among many other investment opportunities
  • Transfer funds to local banks using PesaLink
  • Transfer or receive funds from other banks outside the country using World Remit
  • Withdraw money from your Stanchart Bank account into your mobile money (MPESA or Airtel Money) wallet

While MPESA to Stanchart Bank charges are similar to the standard MPESA Paybill charges, the transaction charges for doing the reverse differ.

  • Log into the Stanchart Bank online banking portal
  • Locate ‘Local Transfer’ on the dashboard
  • Tap on ‘Add Beneficiary’ and choose ‘Local Other Bank Beneficiary’ as Beneficiary Type
  • Choose ‘Mobile Number’ as the account type
  • Populate the mandatory field
  • Enter the OTP you get on your mobile phone to complete a successful PesaLink registration and linkage.
  • Return to the dashboard and click ‘PesaLink Pay to Mobile.’
  • Select the recipient’s bank
  • Ensure the ‘PesaLink Radio Button’ is active
  • Enter the transfer amount and tap ‘Next.’
  • Confirm the details and tap on ‘Submit’ to complete the transfer
