This is a Collective Investment Schemes Performance Report as at December 31, 2025.
Before you invest your money in a fund… ask yourself one question:
How big is the fund manager handling your money?
In the investment world, size matters.
Some fund managers in Kenya control over Ksh 20 Billion in investors’ money.
Others manage only a few million.
And that difference can tell you a lot about experience, investor trust, and market influence.
Today, let’s look at the largest fund managers in Kenya and the size of the money they control.
What Is a Collective Investment Scheme (CIS)?
A CIS is a regulated investment vehicle that pools money from many investors and invests it in a diversified portfolio of assets.
These assets may include:
Stocks
Bonds
Money market instruments
Real estate
Alternative investments
This structure allows you to access professional investment management, even if you start with a small amount.
In Kenya, CIS are regulated by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to ensure transparency, accountability, and investor protection.
Types of Collective Investment Schemes
1. Money Market Funds – Invest in short-term, low-risk assets such as Treasury Bills and fixed deposits.
2. Equity Funds – Invest primarily in shares listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
3. Balanced Funds – A mix of stocks, bonds, and cash to balance risk and returns.
4. Bond Funds – Focus on government and corporate bonds for relatively stable income.
5. Special Funds – Invest in alternative assets such as global markets, forex, private equity, and niche strategies.
